- Description:
- Caption translation: "For the first 10 years of its existence, the UNA did not have its own building. The books [administrative records] were housed in the home of the secretary or other officers. A permanent location was only established in 1905. This was a small store on Sussex Street in Jersey City, N. J. On December 12, 1910, a building was purchased in Jersey City at 83 Grand Street for $13,500. After completion of remodeling, the building was put into service in early 1911. The printing shop of 'Svoboda' was also housed here. In 1927, the neighboring building was purchased for $11,369.36. In 1928, the old UNA building and the building on the purchased neighboring parcel were demolished, and a new fire-resistant UNA building was built for $115,236.84, which went into service on December 15, 1928."
