"Ukrainian Sonata" - Julian Kytasty responds to Yukhym Mykhailiv

On February 26, 2020, the UHEC presented "Contemplating Mykhailiv", an evening of music and scholarship in conjunction with the exhibition "Visible Music: The Art of Yukhym Mykhailiv". It included an informal talk by Myroslava Mudrak, Professor Emeritus of Art History at the Ohio State University and a special appearance by world-renowned bandurist Julian Kytasty.

One of the pieces that Julian created was a reflection on Mykhailiv's 1916 "Ukrainian Sonata" triptych a deeply symbolist vision of Ukrainian identity. This video juxtaposes his performance with the artworks that inspired it.
