Crafts for Kids@UHEC: Vinok Coffee Filter Flower Workshop (Virtual)
A vinok, or Ukrainian flower crown, is a headpiece that consists of fresh, waxed, or paper flowers woven together with ribbons hanging down from the back. The vinok is a symbol of the rising sun, purity, and fertility. The word vinok is a derivative of a Ukrainian word "vinchannya" meaning a wedding ceremony. While traditionally, the vinok was worn by young, unmarried Ukrainian women, it has in recent years become a modern symbol of Ukrainian national pride and is worn by many. In this workshop, young artists will learn about the history of the Ukrainian vinok flower crown and create their own vinok using a marker dyed method.
This is a VIRTUAL workshop. The workshop will be live, interactive and will not be recorded.
