Two works by Mykhailo Dmytrenko
These works by the Ukrainian/Ukrainian American artist Mykhailo Dmytrenko (1908-1997) take a more directly representational approach to the horrors of the Holodomor.
Dmytrenko was well-known as a portraitist, graphic artist, and church painter. Having worked as Fedir Krychevs'ky's assistant, he continued in that Impressionist style, combined with influences from Heorhii Narbut and the Ukrainian Baroque.
